The Propex is a luxury, and intrudes between us and nature (as does the van in the first place), but not so much as hooking up to an electrical outlet and firing up an air conditioner does. It also uses a miniscule amount of fossil fuel compared to that used to generate the electricity that drives the air conditioner. I still don't have a Propex or other heater -- am still considering, and environmental costs are always a consideration for me. So far, with winter camping in mild winter weather (down to well below freezing, perhaps to 10 F at coldest), I have been ok with down bag, hot coffee and tea, and activity. But, I am still considering the Propex. I'm not considering air conditioning. David McNeely
