Ok, so just catching up with the mails. The thread on "Heater knee bar cross beam" has some insights. But this vent on the bottom corner of the door is not part of the channel that directs air through the door into the door jamb. Somewhat odd, this vent is simply for the interior of the door. I can't see how air would flow in our out of this vent. Even the door holding strap (what keeps it from opening too much) has a hole that might allow air flow, but there is foam blocking the opening when the door is closed. Apparently that leaves only the window seals to let air flow through. Looks like it wasn't a previous owner, but this tape (black cloth) was installed by factory. Maybe I better cover it over again. Looks like it wouldn't increase air flow.
