Sounds like 3-4 slider hub or broken gear. I have also seen the 1-2 shift
plate break off the pin rendering those gears useless. Either way tranny
coming out.

My partner has Cunrgonde, our 1.9l WBX, in Wolf Creek, just north of
Grants Pass. She says it won't shift out of 3rd, and only into 3rd
with great difficulty. No other gears. She also says the clutch pedal
action seems normal.

I  guessing rear shifter linkage is bad, but your suggestions? Nearest
trustworthy shop? Try to drive it to Eugene?
