bronze is not self lubricating, oil impregnated bronze, as in Oilite, is though. you can get plain bearings/bushing in that material in a range of sizes, nd of course can be machined for final fit. alistair On 2-Jul-10, at 11:43 AM, neil n wrote: > Hi Neil, > I have a pedal assembly out of a syncro that I removed for worn > clevis pin > hole.. > 'one of these days' I hope to rebuild/repair that extra heavy duty > like.. > maybe bronze bushing for the hole. > Bronze is self-lubricating I believe, and if that pin is only say > 1/4 inch > diameter.. > there maybe be room for a 5/16th inch diameter pin say. I saw a post of yours in archives musing over the thought of using a bearing in that hole. That would totally rock. I imagine there's not enough metal there to install a roller type bearing. Obviously Bronze would be easier to install. Didn't know it was self lubing. Such a PITA part to get to and repair. I wonder how long the Bronze bushing would last? Still, I like your idea. Wish I had a lathe. But maybe a drill press and some filing would do to make the Bronze part.
