RE: Why a gas can?
I carry my small (2.5 gal?) Wedco NATO can primarily for my generator (that
used used so often I've only had to refill the gas can once in the last four
years) but there has been at least one time that I came very, very close to
having to use the spare can.  Just a little insurance for that time I
miscalculate.  But the point is well taken, here in the western US it is
rare that you can't find a gas station when you need it, especially if you
pay attention to what you are doing and where you are.
