Fortunately my Vanagon does not have rotten bolts/nuts in such extreme condition. I got the power steering pressure hose successfully replaced this morning. I had to cut off the hose to use a socket. It came off without struggling with a socket. Installing the new hose was not completed without some struggle though. Routing of the hose was not straight forward. A quick test showed no more leak. Job done. Thanks again for everyone's tips. Sorry to bother everyone with this NVC subject.
