Well it turned out my added ground did not effect the funciton of the starter sufficienly. When I got to my destination today, It simply would not turn over. Luckily, my destination was parting out a vanagon. So, we took the 2 year old rebuilt 2.1 starter off it, threw it on mine, and IT WORKS! It turns over SOOO fast and smooth, like a modern car! So the moral of the story, battery was weak. Grounds sucked. But the starter was bad. -Craig '85GL turned WESTY BOSTIG in the back '87 SUNROOF Syncro On Sat, Jul 24, 2010 at 6:39 PM, craig cowan <phishman068@gmail.com> wrote: > I added a 4guage ground cable from the starter strait to the frame > (Attached to one of the cradle to frame bolts on the Bostig Conversion). > Along with replacing the battery, it now starts great! > > Hopefully this will hold. > > Now I have a spare battery which i'm going to need for my syncro anyway (No > battery in there). > I think there is still some life in that battery. > I believe it was a grounding issue mostly. > > If I run a new cable, it will be 4guage.
