As it turns out, nearly all "belt and suspenders".  <embarrassed>
(Although it is really stable with pin in, clamp undone)

Oh well. Was a good exercise in design.    ;)

FWIW, seems that if table height mod done properly, it's pretty stable
just using the clamp.
