yeah, that's all well and good David, but I have been finding that the local propane jockeys want to see the sticker before they pump. the guys could be mistaken, and heck it would be grand if you could argue the point then and there and emerge victorious and with a full tank of propane. I'd rather just get the gas and move on camping :) I looked and looked for tank testing specs, but no luck. Its frustrating. I think that Neil is very close to the mark in saying that when the welded label rusts off then the tank is failed. cheers alistair On 1-Sep-10, at 3:59 PM, David Beierl wrote: At 02:51 PM 9/1/2010 -0700, Alistair Bell wrote: > http://www.mdcbc.com/news/blt-propanesafe-fnl.pdf That says that you can't sell it without the blue sticker, and that it would be nice if you got a shiny new sticker every two years. Doesn't say you have to have one if you bought the thing before this came into effect. There's a checkoff box for the date stamp on the tank, but no info about DOT vs ASME tanks. Recertifying a tank involves doing a hydrostatic pressure test on it. In the US ASME tanks are not required to undergo periodic recertification but DOT tanks are. :) d
