The motor can be removed separately. This might help. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=406728&highlight=window+motor If the motor is frozen, water ingress is the likely problem. Time for new outside window scraper. I have rebuilt my motors, but the water problem just caused the motor problem to recur. Bob Wing 88 Westy
