this talk of badges coincides with my task of re-attaching mudflaps
to drivers side (brushing against log on trial).

the grommet inserted into body, is part # 865 853 231A.

I think they are also used in some badge attachment applications.
Mind you, I have used the good 3M brand double sided tape for badges.

Busdepot etc carry them.
