In these economic times such emails and approaches are very common. In New York it is every minute. Embassies have a program for such cases. Even the European host countries have programs for it. I have been through the exact case and were helped by my embassy with all I wanted to get me back home. The credit cards and cash was replaced either by the card's bank or the insurance that I had at the time. The airline has made out a new ticket. So, the List will ignore this kind of begging, I'm sure. But, depending on the number of emails, a certain percentage will always fall for it and get cleaned out. This guy has more money than any of us on the List.
