Only one, my fall back answer, check for vacuum leaks. They can be crafty, splits in hoses, bad fitting throttle body to plenum (shrunk gasket there), bracket mount for fuel press reg on plenum (needs to be sealed with goop), etc etc alistair On 5-Oct-10, at 11:18 AM, John Rodgers wrote: OK, at long last I finally have all 3 of my Vanagons running. I got the last of the injectors back this past Friday after servicing by Rich Cruzin at Cruzin Perfomance. Installed them, turn the switches - and all three engines fired right up. I'm happy as a clam in sand. Rich did a good job and the injectors now perform well. What I am not so happy over is that my Dove Blue 88 GL w/manual tranny, and my 91 Carat do not idle well. The 88 GL idles at 1000 rpm and the engine hunts up and down from 1000 to 1200/1300 rpm. On the Carat with automatic tranny, the problem is similar but the hunting is up and down from 1000 to 1500 rpm. I'm mystified by this. Two separate vehicles - same problem, almost same rpm range. - one manual tranny, one automatic. Any suggestions?? Thanks.
