Vehicle is a late '85 Wolfsburg (04/85). My turn signals do not function. Several weeks ago they started to flash really random sometimes at a normal pace and sometimes really fast. When the emergency flashers were turned on all four lights (and the switch) flashed at a normal pace. About three weeks ago they simply quit - no turn signals, no emergency flashers although the relay still clicked and the switch light flashed. I pulled the relay, cleaned the contacts, thumped it, and reinstalled resulting in left side flashers but no right side. Flipping the turn signal lever gave me a steady green LED in the dash but no lights and no noise from the relay. I ordered a replacement relay from a vendor, installed it and it buzzed when I flipped the emergency flasher switch - so much for quality German products. This morning I picked up a generic flasher relay from Napa, installed it and I have emergency flashers (all four corners and the switch) but flipping the turn signal lever gets me a steady green LED but no flashing lights. Bulbs are all good, front sockets were replaced a few years ago (and coated with dielectric paste) and contacts are all nice and clean. Is the turn signal switch 'serviceable' or is it a replacement only part? Any tips on what else to look at before I mess with the switch? Chuck '85 Wolfsburg Westy - 'Roland the Road Buffalo'
