"This summer, some of the dealerships settled out of court and were allowed to stay open, while others were given compensation but had to close by October 2010...Mifsud never said which deal Island Chevrolet Cadillac took." But, it's hard to feel sorry for someone who pays $1000 for lifetime oil changes. They run, what, $30 each? That's over 30 oil changes. Even if you do them every 3K (most manufacturers spec 7.5 or 10K these days), that still gets you to 90K. How many people (who buy new cars) keep their cars that long? "$1,000 extra for the plan that would cover oil and filter changes and inspections for the lifetime of the vehicle..." Of course, the "inspection" part is just another dealer moneymaker - just about any service place gives free inspections, and will be glad to tell you that you need a $500 brake job. And none of that is even considering the cost of money (i.e. the money you'd earn by investing that $1k).
