No, there's no disadvantage or downside of removing the thing.
Interior lights still work , etc.

want to keep those - just not that blasted buzzer! And I don't have a
cucaracha sound - it's most definitely just a loud buzzer. Annoyingly loud
buzz.

I hate that thing!

And I don't need it - can't lock the driver door without the key so I won't
ever forget the keys in the ignition.
