Subject:Re: turn signal indicator weirdness

What year?

The wiring circuit for the turn indicator on the dash can seem
mystifying. That is primarily because it works OPPOSITE to the turn
signal bulbs on the outside. During flashing, when the dash bulb blinks
-on- the outside bulbs blink -off-.

If you have an 86+ try pulling the flasher relay. Then try the turn
signals with the key on and see if the dash bulb works.

When the turn signal indicator on the dash stopped working a few weeks back I figured it was the bulb also and would eventually replace it as well. However, over the weekend I had occasion to use the four-way flashers and the bulb for the signals worked for that, but does not when used simply for a left or right turn.

Interestingly, the bulb lights for the four-way when the key is off but not when the key is on. Turn signals, of course, only work with the key on but the bulb does not work for them. Signal lights at all four corners work when they're supposed to for both the flashers and the signals. What gives?
