have you tried a good rubbing compund and a buff?  Worked wonders for me. I
accidently buffed the sticker near the gas tank filler so I goota replace
that, but really made it look better and no damage to clear coat...(yes, iI
still have 99% of my clear coat :-))  Might be worth a try.
