Isn't this the truth! And every time I fiddle with anything, I knock
the white wire to the coil off, try to start, scratch my head, find
it, plug it in, and start.

If one of the things is temp sensor II, you can rig up some resistance
by sticking a 12-v light in the circuit (or so Jim Thompson told me
once).
