Another option is to visit a local upholstery vendor who can sell you
sheets of door panel material in various thicknesses.  Even if what
you purchase is too thin, you can sandwich them for more thickness if
needed.  They also sell bulk foam in different thicknesses so you can
apply that before you wrap with vinyl or whatever texttile you choose
to cover your panels with.
