Seems to me that the way this swings depends on if the damage was caused by a manufacturing or design defect that VW has signed up to. If it is then VW should pay, otherwise you are looking at a comprehensive claim against your auto policy. Then there's the third scenario - where no-one pays because they consider the damage user abuse, or no-one pays because you have not satisfied your deductable with the damage claim. Since the vehicle is obviously still under warranty, I'll bet they would "have an angle" (rationale) that would avoid their culpability? bob On Dec 31, 2010, at 12:44 PM, Jeff Palmer wrote: > Hi everyone, > > I need some advice. I have had some ice damage to my 09 Jetta wagon as a result of ice buildup between the driver's door and front fender. A little googling led me to TSB 57 07 05 which remedies the problem. I took it back to VW for a look and they are checking to see if it would be covered under the warranty. I would assume this type of thing would be covered under the warranty - any comments or suggestions? Or counterpoints when VW inevitably tells me to take a hike? > > Happy New Year in advance! > > Thanks > Jeff > 09 Jetta wagon > 85 Westfalia GL
