Welcome Joe! Glad to have you aboard. David has clearly stated that religion and politics are out of bounds but since it IS Friday perhaps we can assist with bringing your wife around to a Vanagon state of mind. Many of us have been there and I'd bet this varied group has as many Vanagon relationship tricks as we have Vanagon mechanical tricks. I know one fellow whose much loved daily driver Vanagon is a bit rough around the edges so he wisely keeps a picked over parts van in his driveway as subtle reminder for his spouse who's oh so thankful she doesn't have to drive something as ugly as THAT! We're here for you, Man. ;-) Andrew -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Joe Luther Sent: Friday, February 04, 2011 11:05 AM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: New to list and to Vanagons Thanks. I'm an admin and resident greybeard on a regional VW/Audi site so I'll read and follow the site rules and keep it clean. I wish everyone on our site would do the same. I work for highly demanding and extremely intelligent Germans and I'm trying to raise teenage boys so very little else gets me worked up. I'm too laid back to go caps lock on anyone regardless. People have already been extremely helpful and welcoming I'm sure that will continue. I wish my wife was as welcoming to another project showing up in the driveway but you can't have everything.... There are some folks here who know quite a bit about air-cooled Vanagons, and of course there's much that's common to all Vanagons; so I hope we can help you out as needed and that you'll feel part of a community. Topics are technical and community/usage related to T3/Transporter/Vanagon; OT discussions allowed on Fridays. Coarseness is always out of bounds and we do not discuss politics or religion. The list is worldwide, but the great bulk of the members live in the US and Canada. Again, welcome. Yours, David
