Bleeding the brakes after pedal assembly fix... rears went well, front
caliper nipples both sides broke off.

arggh

got one caliper in workshop, starting to drill out nipple. It sure was
rusted in tight. I'm not confident I can save the caliper.

oh well, so it goes with vanagon ownership, I would have come across
this sooner or later.
