Y'all are very sweet. I am as it happens still twenty five hours and thirty one minutes short of sexegenarianism, but I appreciate the sentiments. As of tomorrow 1252 EST (I was born in the former Naval Hospital, now condominia, in Chelsea Mass; so the time zone is the same as on the birth certificate) you may expect crotchety behavior. And may I say that I'm entitled - below I quote the night letter (wouldn't waste a telegram) the Navy sent my father all of two miles away in Charlestown Shipyard. I seem to have mislaid it, so I'll paraphrase: TO: LT PETER G BEIERL, USS [I forget - a destroyer] FROM: NAVY DEPARTMENT FRANCES E BEIERL DELIVERED OF YOUR CHILD USNH CHELSEA MASS AT 1252 THIS DAY 5 MARCH 1951 STOP. MOTHER AND DAUGHTER DOING WELL STOP. ENDS. Yours, David ps - Dad had already heard from the neighbor, so he was a mite confused as well.
