The book says 4x1 mm.  Pretty sure the 4 mm is I. D. since if it were
O. D. a 1 mm wall would leave a pretty skinny hole.  VW number is N
020 301 1 (10 meter rolls) and the specified lengths are 80 mm left,
760 mm right and 950 mm down.  The connecting hoses are listed as
4x30 mm, p/n  443 955 665
