Here are my favorites:

Davidson River CG - near the town of Pisgah Forest, SW of Asheville about 20
miles. $20 and showers, nice river and awesome trail network there and out
276. Pink Beds and others are out that way. Pick up a copy of the best
trails from a local bike shop.

North Mills River CG is closed for repairs (last I checked), but tons of
great free spots (only camp in the designated ones!) off FR 5000, right
after the first speed bump. Partway up there is a FR to the left, over a
stream, that has several nice spots next to a trailhead that offers some
awesome trails for biking.

Curtis Creek just off US70 at Old Fort is awesome - more free spots and The
Curtis Creek CG ($5) is open April 1. I just camped in the free area last
week. Black Mountain/Montreat has another awesome biking/hiking network of
trails.

Send me a pmail if you want to hook up and ride there - I am currently in
and out of that area looking at property to relocate to. It's an amazing area.
