did you or they check under the back seat ? ...the rear heaters love to leak. 1/2 pint in 200 miles isn't much. makes one wonder if it isn't going out the tail pipe in such small amounts there's no smell. what does a pressure test reveal ? it should hold say 12 psi, from a pressure tester for an hour or more. any chance that it's still getting air out a bit at a time ? and that is the 'coolant' that needs to replaced . ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dake Collins" <wuwe423@YAHOO.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Tuesday, April 26, 2011 2:48 PM Subject: Where's my coolant fluid going? I recently had my 1.9 WBX replaced with a 2.1 - more power and it runs very smooth - I like it. The problem is that about 1/2 pint of coolant seems to disappear about every 200 miles. There's no sign of a leak, no odor of coolant, no sign of it on the dip stick. The mechanic (reputable VW shop) has been over it from top to bottom a couple of times with no luck. Does anybody have any idea what's happening? thanks, Dake '84 Westy 2.1 WBX 'Wu-Wei'
