I had a come-to-my-business windshield replacement company remove my cracked windshield & install my new VW swap meet $15 PPG vanagon windshield for $50-took him 10-15 minutes, all by himself. I had to run in and answer the phone, so I didn't get to see him remove my already cracked windshield,n but it was still in 1 piece after removal. Rule of thumb is that 5% of all glass will fail all by itself, so the installers are just covering their butts in case yours does. YMMV, Mr. BZ-& now the thread about sealing the gasket?
