Based on everything I've seen and read on the Internet a six year old Optima
is from before they started having QC problems.  And one good source says
that the Optimas are once again a good battery even though overpriced.

And sorry Tom, I don't think anyone has yet to find a good Group 41 or Group
48 deep cycle sealed battery that fits under the drivers seat.  There was
one source, in So Cal IIRC, for a Group 41 deep cycle but I don't have the
brand name or dealer info handy, you might find it in the archives.
