Because the aux battery was never wired to the 
kitchen.  It was only installed in Weekenders 
that had no kitchen, just the plug-in fridge; and 
it was wired to a socket to feed that 
fridge.  You can't really blame the Official 
Manual for not supporting something that was never official.
