Hi Everyone, In a bind. Need some advice here. I was putting in new Mintek brake pads in my 88 with Girling Calipers today. First wheel went fine. The second one on the passenger side was going great, I removed the top caliper bolt and rotated the caliper down leaving in the lower bolt. The lower bolt slid in and out very easily. The top sliding assembly will not move. It appears to be seized or locked in some way. I have no idea what happened. I removed the top bolt and the caliper assembly came off without to much effort. So now the top sliding assembly will not slide and it 1/8th of an inch to far out for me to lock the caliper in place to drive the car to someone with the proper tools to rectify this. Is there a way I can loosen that top sliding bolt on the brake pad holder? It's totally stuck. I tried using a 17MM wratchet & nothing would not move. I leaned all my upper body on it to try and move it. Nothing. I know some people use heat but I did not think that was a good idea next to the rotor or the rubber sleeve. Open to ideas. Thanks for any ideas. Robert Bloomingburg NY -- 88 Wolfsburg, Silver automatic
