I have installed an exciting new gauge cluster atop the instrument pod
on Mellow Yellow, my '84 Westy. Some of the gauges are waiting to be
connected (oil pressure, oil temp, ATF temp, aux battery) and the wires
for them are presently hanging out the fuse box opening, neatly curled
and taped to the pillar.
Next weekend I will be building up a wiring harness to bring up the
sender signals (as well as several other "spare" wires for future
connection) from the rear.
I could just solder the gauge wires to the sender wires and leave the
spares unconnected. But I'd like to use some kind of terminal block or
junction box, for neatness sake.
I wish there was sufficient room behind the fuse box to mount such a
thing, but it's kind of a tightly-packed mess of spaghetti in there. But
there's room on the pillar to bolt something, if that something isn't
too big.
Does anyone know of a terminal block or box that could be mounted there
to accept 10 wires, possibly something with a cover so my toe tip
doesn't snag anything?
If not, then another place to mount a terminal block would be in the aux
battery compartment under the driver's seat. My aux battery is under the
rear bench so I have room in there once I shove some spare parts out of
the way.
Again, a neat terminal box with cover would be good there. My
familiarity with terminal blocks ends with old-school barrier strips and
eurostyle terminal strips, and those usually don't have covers.
Suggestions?
