Thanks for the tip rocket! I have a hot water system that uses my city water port, see: http://www.flickr.com/photos/9769028@N07/ or I would opt to use that for the connection. I'm hoping the mudflap will block most of the crud, and of course those dust covers should keep the crud off the actual connectors. Btw, this guy has a pretty nice write up on solar, you may know him;) Nice write up, I found it very helpful. http://sites.google.com/site/campingelliott/aboutoursolarpowerrig Troy ----- Original Message ----- From: Rocket J Squirrel To: Troy Cc: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Sent: Friday, July 01, 2011 6:14 AM Subject: Re: Solar Panel outdoor electrical connect On Thu, 2011-06-30 at 21:44 -0800, Troy wrote: I don't believe their connectors are waterproof. I may opt to use a little bit of heat shrink tape where the wire enters the connectors. It appears they do have waterproof connectors for larger gauge wire, but not 10 or 12 gauge, unless I missed that on their site. I personally don't worry about water with these connectors. The voltage is too low to be a problem, and the construction and materials used make them pretty much unaffected by water. But on the van underside they could get packed up with crud, so dust covers might be a good idea. -- RJS
