If going through the expense and trouble of buying new wheels go right for 16 or even 17. Many more choices of tires especially to increase overall performance and XL are much more common. 215/60-16 and 225/60-16 are very good choices and XL versions are available. The 225 is an extremely common tire.
For 17 the 225/55-17XL brings a 101 load index 26.7" diameter.

Subject: Any Interest In a Set of Factory Alloys for a Vanagon?

This question is an 'if' type question. I have to replace a couple of tires. I'm thinking about ordering a set of 15" tires/wheels from Van Cafe. If I do I will have a set of four VW factory 14" alloy wheels with three good Hakka 185R14 CS tires left over. I have no place at all to store these. So, if I order the 15" wheels/tires is there anyone in the Puget Sound area (I'm in Lynnwood, just north of Seattle) that would want to buy the 14" alloys with the Hakka CS tires, about half tread, one of which is badly worn on one edge (bad camber setting on the left front)? I'd want these picked up in a day or two after I get the other tires/wheels and that would be about a week or ten days from now. If anyone is really interested and would pick them up with a day or two notice then what are they worth to you? Make an offer, just don't be to insulting. And again, this is an 'if I do' type question/offer. You can pmail me at starwagen@gmail.com .
