Subject:Re: Any Interest In a Set of Factory Alloys for a Vanagon?

a trick sort of ..
to fit a thicker (wider, but not especially taller ) spare tire is to remove
the upper bars ..
then secure the tire to the clamshell with heavy duty straps so it can't
bounce up or around.

that allows a thicker tire to fit.
in overall diameter ..of course, it hits the steering shaft once the tire
gets to large, and that's a limitation there for sure.

The 215 will be a challenge and need some mods. The 225 will not.

Will the 215/60-16 and/or 225/60-16 fit in the spare tire well?
