After a hiatus of several years - about 8-9 - without A/C I decide it
was time. The unusual heat this summer prompted me to get on with it. So
- I did.

Since there was no compressor in there for years, and the system was
open, I decided to go with new(rebuilt compressor) new expansion valve,
new receiver/dryer, and a complete flush of the entire system, and all
new seals. Pulled a vacuum check and it held, Still holding a day later.
It was here that the fun really began.

There was no power to the compressor. It was here that Tim (TJ) Hannink
came to the rescue. Though from New Orleans, he was up this way working
and is very knowledgeable about the AC system among other things. He
came over and put his experienced eye on the problem, and he went
through the wiring system completely, testing all the relays one by one,
and the connections. Bingo - found a bad pin in the connector in the
long wire that runs from the control console up front to the rear
through the tunnel to the rear blowers. and compressor relay. He fixed
that in short order and had me ready to add refrigerant. Had that done
this morning and it all worked. Man - that thing will freeze a halibut!!

On other fronts, he found a few other problems and got all three of my
vans putting like kittens. And one big item - he found and reconnected a
vacuum line on my Carat and that solved the stalling problem I was
having and reported to this list.

I got  one thing to say. Kudo's for TJ Hannick!!!!
