In my case: 1989 2.1L wbx standard (is that the correct term as opposed to diesel?). You are correct, it's the 1st scenario, it stumbles and get slower and slower until it dies. My apologies for such incomplete info :-( Cheers, Harry On 08/24/2011 02:54 PM, Scott Daniel - Turbovans wrote: > we might be getting somewhere. > are you saying it stumbles weakly slower and slower then finally dies ? > > or does it shout off cleanly, just like someone turned off the key ? > I think you are saying it the first one. > > don't think I've seen the year or version yet. > it's not a diesel .. > it could be an air-cooled.. > and I am sure it's a waterboxer actually .. > but I don't think I've seen which one. > I think it's an 83 to 85 1.9 waterboxer . is this a test ? > Scott ----- Original Message ----- From: "Harry Hoffman" > <hhoffman@IP-SOLUTIONS.NET> > To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> > Sent: Wednesday, August 24, 2011 7:41 AM > Subject: Re: Initial start failures > > >> Hi David, >> >> I'm not sure I understand enough to answer.
