It seems to be leaking between the aluminum main body and the cast iron
block which the injector lines tap into?

a leaking sealing washer at the timing checking plug ..right between where
the injector lines come out of the delivery valves on the forward end of the
pump.  An easy fix, though I've only ever heard of that once.
