I confess that I have had a split inner CV joint boot on my Mercedes car for the last 24 years.. and I just shoot it up with very sticky penetrating motorcycle chain lube every once in a while. Figger to keep doing that till there's no gas to drive on someday, or until something happens...and I know that CV joint is not going to fail or wear much. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jeff Schwaia" <vw.doka@GMAIL.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Tuesday, August 30, 2011 10:06 PM Subject: Re: clamps for cv boots, ridged washers for cv bolts > Not sure if they make a leather boot for type 4 CV joints, but they do > make > a leather "quick fix" boot: > > http://www.racereadyproducts.com/cv-boots/race-ready-quick-fix-cv-boot-kit/ > > Cheers, > > Jeff > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of > Scott Daniel - Turbovans > Sent: Tuesday, August 30, 2011 8:43 PM > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Subject: Re: clamps for cv boots, ridged washers for cv bolts > > sounds great then ! > go for it. > a new product perhaps for vanagon owners ! > > cow leather or what ? > Elk ? > Moose ? > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Jim Felder" <jim.felder@GMAIL.COM> > To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> > Sent: Tuesday, August 30, 2011 5:27 PM > Subject: Re: clamps for cv boots, ridged washers for cv bolts > > >> Mine come apart in the good clean Alabama air.
