no argument there .. VW is actually .. one of the top three manufacturers in the world. and of course ..they own parts of Lamborghini, they are Bugatti, Audi.... the own a bug chunk of Porsche now ...a bit over 50 % I think.. like they really have a lot to say about what Porsche does, they own Seat.. and about 7 other brands.. I overlooked the wooden floors. and I very much have an aversion to everything that is smogged out, over- crowded, diesel fumed up ..... and all that. so nope...wooden floors are not enough. And I do not go in pure city environments much at all. As little as I can. I don't even understand how people work in whatever.. banks or grocery stores ..in some cases .......with no way to tell if it's a blizzard outside or a nice spring day. I think that is a very unhealthy way to live. Like life-shortening. Did I somehow imply that VW is not successful ? I am certain I did not. Though the Phaeton is a well-recognized debacle..though evidently they are selling them in Europe well enough. What's with the 'digging at me' energy ? I only said what I thought about that factory for me. if you're playing ..fine. Otherwise... Do I need to make a regular practice of not opening your posts ? peace bro. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alistair Bell" <albell@SHAW.CA> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Friday, September 09, 2011 5:19 PM Subject: Re: VW Factory - Dresden Gee Scott, you want them made in a forest or a meadow? The floors are wooden, not enough for you? I guess you're smarter at running a car manufacturer than VW. Apart for a few mis-steps (and I guess the Phaeton was one), I think most folk would agree that VW is one of the most successful car makers ever. alistair On 2011-09-09, at 5:14 PM, Scott Daniel - Turbovans wrote: > why not .. > vanagon owners' money is not good enough to spend on a Phaeton ? > > the bigger question is why would anyone want one ? > I'd bet VW will have to produce and sell 50,000 Phaeton's per year for 10 > years to break even on what that factory cost to build and operate. > > The fact that every single square inch is man-made and not trees or dirt > or anything natural ...I just couldn't stand it.
