Measured my racks (home-built), I've got 8 1/4" height legs from the rain gutter to the bottom of the cross-bar, which gives me a comfortable 2 3/8" clearance between the top of the roof and the bottom of the cross-bar. This is at the roof's highest point, i.e., measured from one of the "waffle" structures to the bar. So that's 5 7/8" from high portion of roof to the bottom of the rain gutter trough. Hope this helps, Gary Date: Wed, 21 Sep 2011 08:42:59 -0400 > From: T Collins <tonycollin@GMAIL.COM> > Subject: Re: Roof racks on non westies > > Bumping this cause, I'm interested in the clearance height too. > > Thanks for bringing this up again Craig! > > Tony > > On Tue, Sep 20, 2011 at 5:49 PM, craig cowan <phishman068@gmail.com> > wrote: > > > Sorry to revive an old thread, but does anyone know what model feet they > > have or how high the feet need to be to clear the roof? > > Also, these Proline racks listed above for $50 complete > (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) > > look very similar to the standard "300" feet from Thule, but are they > tall > > enough to clear the roof? > > > > Anyone know? > > Thanks! > > > > -Craig > > '87 SUNROOF Syncro > > '85GL turned WESTY > > '90 Automatic in someone elses driveway still.... > > >
