Sorry to hear about this experience. In early May I drove to RI from MS via the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive. It was pretty foggy most of the way, but traffic (save for a FEW motorcycles and a lot of bicyclists) was virtually nonexistant. Hope it quiets down in the next couple of weeks, as I am likely to go back via the same route in early November (if it is open then).
