A guy came by my shop in the dead of winter.. with GF and baby .. in an 82 Diesel Westy . I opened the siding door .. it was at least 75 degrees in there ! yup ..rear heater and most of the rear windows covered in insulation. Nice n' toasty warm for sure. Normally I take 'em out too, to get the storage room. But I don't throw them away. I just sold one to a guy .. he's building a ( he 'should' do a vanagon of course ! ) 74 Bug pan/chassis, fiberglass Ferrari kit car body, subaru engine .. and he's using a vanagon rear heater for his front heater/defroster system. That'll work. Nice compact little unit too. scott ----- Original Message ----- From: "James Felder" <jim.felder@GMAIL.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Monday, December 05, 2011 6:28 PM Subject: Re: Leaking Rear Heater I did the same thing in my daughter's Vanagon-fixed it! Right now, since I am waiting to get my hands on a new motor, it's all the heat she has. Made the repair time worth it for sure. It's a good backup.
