I have to disagree with the others who like this kind of toaster. I have one and find it doesn't toast very efficiently. It might be due to the bread used. I have seen another type used to better effect, the US made Camp-a-toaster (http://www.camp-a-toaster.com/). I'm intrigued by the types that use a SS mesh to distribute/radiate the heat, like this one: http://www.getoutoutfitters.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=55&products_id=1196&zenid=8foupd3i31angdknhu2hersjr4 or this one: http://www.smartmarine.co.nz/stainless-steel-marine-toaster-for-boats-camping-p-1091.html more expensive to be sure, but maybe worth trying to copy. alistair On 2011-12-31, at 9:58 AM, James Felder wrote: > I recently started taking insulin, so toast is something I can think about for the first time in a decade. Of course I want to figure out how to make it in the Westy. My wife has made it with tongs over a flame (with many dropped and burned casualties) and on a griddle. I have been looking online at several types of toasters that might fit the Westy grill. > > As it is with many things, the more a stovetop toaster costs, the lower it is rated by people who have actually bought and used it. The ones on the marine sites cost ten times that, don't fold and are rated poorly by users. > > Can anyone speak for the item linked above? > > A "toast" to camping in the new year, > > Jim
