that motor has a lot of issues, google the sludge problems and the lawsuits
 against vw for this motor  .we have replaced a lot of turbos on this motor
 also' . personally I am running a 1.8L 1992 jetta 8 valve motor in my
vannie westy laid over using vannie diesel stuff . I have been very happy with
