A coffee can is a food grade material. It is tin plated, but it is food grade tin, not standard galvanized like a pipe or screen wire. Campers have used coffee cans for decades as cooking pots. I'll bet every mid-twentieth century hobo who ever cooked over a jungle fire ate stew out of a coffee pot. mcneely ---- Scott Daniel - Turbovans <scottdaniel@TURBOVANS.COM> wrote: > in case anyone doesn't know.. > galvanized metal.. > when heated enough emits a deadly poison. > > when welding on galvanized metal....it's very important to not breath the > fumes. > This is also why galvanized stove pipe is never used indoors. > > Scott > www.turbovans.com > > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "David Beierl" <dbeierl@ATTGLOBAL.NET> > To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> > Sent: Saturday, January 07, 2012 5:20 PM > Subject: Re: Tin-can westy toaster > > > > At 07:38 PM 1/7/2012, Tom Hargrave wrote: > >>All I can say is - yummy, galvanized toast.... > > > > Tin-plated, please.
