Be sure you have a spare tire and the tools you need for a  change.  I
always carry flares and use them at night for tire changing or  until a tow
truck comes.  If you are stuck on a freeway shoulder it is nice  to have a flare
burning 50 or so feet back to alert others so that they keep  their
distsnce.
