hey john  around here they wont clean them anymore if they smell like  bad
gas..  I just did a 56 mecedse 190sl tank that we cleaned with acid and
then washed out using dawn which killed the gas smell, then we had a radiator
shop boil it out. . a new tank for a 190sl is about $1300   , big
difference than a vanagon.  for a vannie just buy a new one, later   md
