Vanagons never were a "very inexpensive vehicle". Tell us, what was the dealer price for an '84 vanagon? (you can choose any country). What brand of vehicle populates the areas that the "travel under difficult conditions" is tailored for (Africa)? Vanagons are, for the most part, a first world luxury. alistair On 2012-02-08, at 7:19 AM, mcneely4@COX.NET wrote: > ---- Alistair Bell <albell@shaw.ca> wrote: >> " i don't think toyota supplies to its dealers instructions for adding a roof canopy for being out in the sun, or engine shield for rocky roads!" >> >> Ha! >> >> All toyota did was to make vehicles that work in difficult conditions without modifications. > > alistair, that is true. but my remark was to contrast the flexibility that vw offered to buyers of what was a very inexpensive vehicle. those toyotas that work under very difficult conditions come at a pretty steep price. mcneely >> >> That VW publication dates from 1984, that's 28 years ago.
