Hi all. Importing a Vanagon Westy seems relatively easy, as the Vanagons have all been RIV exempt for a while, but..... My far fetched plan would be to finish work in US, purchase a Westy in the US (likely CA), camp in it for a week or so, drive it (import it) home to Canada. Obviously insurance companies and laws vary from state to state, but for a foreigner driving a vehicle in the US, can that person get sufficient insurance for short term use? Like do I get the vehicle in my name, then simply buy insurance for the term required? e.g. if the mileage is truly original and vehicle is rust free (or nearly so), this one might be nice: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1248521 Thinking out loud, Neil. -- Neil n 65 kb image Myford Ready For Assembly http://tinyurl.com/64sx4rp '81 VanaJetta 2.0 "Jaco" http://tubaneil.googlepages.com/ Vanagon VAG Gas I4/VR Swap Google Group: http://groups.google.com/group/vanagons-with-vw-inline-4-cylinder-gas-engines
